1.
Are there still online
sportsbooks that accept U.S. customers?
A.
Yes. I currently live in the U.S. and have accounts
at Heritage, Legends, and Northbet. I
have had good luck with all three and never had a problem with a
withdrawal. Keep in mind Northbet is
invitation-only.
2.
Has anyone ever heard of the
sportsbook Northbet?
A.
Northbet is a new sportsbook
that started in 2010. They are an invitation-only sportsbook that offers
sports, horse racing, casino, and fantasy football. One the unique feature of Northbet is they
offer their customers a debit card for easy withdrawals.
3.
How old do you have to be to
open an account at an offshore sportsbook?
A.
I believe the age is 18 at most
offshore sportsbooks. That is the legal
age in Central and South America. I have
an account at Northbet and you must be at least 18 to open an account with
them.
4.
Has anyone ever played fantasy
football at Northbet?
A.
I have an account with Northbet
and have played fantasy football for the last 2 seasons. It is free and is a weekly salary cap format
similar to Fanduel. I like the Northbet
contests because you’re in groups no larger than 50 people and you have a
decent shot of placing in the top 3 each week.
So far I have won 3 contests for a total of $1,500.
5.
Is Northbet a legit sportsbook?
A.
I have had an account there for
over 2 years and have never had any issues.
Their customer service is excellent and I always get treated with
respect and have never waited more than 48 hours to receive a payout. Payouts
are same-day with the debit card option.
6.
Why are some sportsbooks
invitation-only?
A.
Some sportsbooks prefer to
cater to a limited clientele to better serve their customers. Northbet, for example, has remained an
invitation-only book despite numerous attempts from customers and advertisers
to be open to the public. As a result of
a limited clientele, Northbet has an excellent record and reputation for
customer service and timely payouts.
7.
Does anyone know if offshore
sportsbooks offer odds on the Oscars?
A.
Yes. I have seen Oscars odds at sever of the
leading offshore books including sportsbook.ag, Heritage, and Northbet.
8.
How can I get a referral or
invitation to play at Northbet?
A.
Northbet is an invitation-only
sportsbook. To get an account you must
receive an invitation or be referred by a current Northbet member.
9.
Why are good English-speaking
account managers so hard to find at offshore sportsbooks?
A.
I know what you mean. I have played at numerous offshore books and
sometimes the clerks’ English is not understandable. Currently, I play at Northbet and I must say
everyone I’ve spoken to has excellent English with most being native English
speakers. After being spoiled at
Northbet, I won’t put up with horrible English anymore.
10.
Are there any internet
sportsbooks located in the U.S.?
A.
Only in the state of Nevada.
Nevada is the only state that has internet wagering in place for its
residents. If you’re outside of Nevada,
your options are limited to offshore sportsbooks mainly located in Central
America, such as 5Dimes, Legends, Northbet, etc.
11.
What are the best sportsbooks
in Las Vegas?
A.
Las Vegas has lots of great
sportsbooks. In my opinion the LVH,
Palms, and Mandalay Bay are all great books. When I go to Vegas I usually do my wagering at
the LVH. They open their showroom to show NFL games on Sundays with dollar
beers. When I can’t go to Vegas I play
offshore at Northbet.ag.
12.
How does a parlay work in
sports betting?
A.
A parlay or accumulator is a
single bet that links together two or more individual wagers and is dependent
on all of those wagers winning together. The benefit of the parlay is that
there are much higher payoffs than placing each individual bet separately since
the difficulty of hitting it is much higher. If any of the bets in the parlay
lose, the entire parlay loses. If any of the plays in the parlay ties, or
"pushes", the parlay reverts to a lower number of teams with the odds
reducing accordingly. You can find
parlay cards at most Las Vegas sportsbooks such as the LVH, MGM Grand, and
Bellagio. Offshore, parlays are offered as
well as such books as 5Dimes, Bookmaker, and Northbet.
13.
I recently received a scratch
and win mailer from Northbet for $100.
Does anyone know what the catch is regarding this?
A.
To receive a payout, you must
deposit a minimum of $100 and meet the rollover requirements tied to the free
$100. Basically there’s no risk if you
can build up the $100 and make a small deposit.
I was able to hit my rollover requirement fairly easily.
14.
Where is Northbet.ag located?
A.
Northbet is located in San
Jose, Costa Rica.
15.
What are the craziest prop bets
on the superbowl?
A.
I’ve seen lots of crazy options
for superbowl betting. You can wager on
just about anything from the coin toss to the color of Gatorade poured on the
winning coach. A few years ago I won a
prop bet on the length of the national anthem on my Northbet account.
16.
Does anyone know if Keno is offered at
offshore sportsbooks and casinos?
A.
Yes. I have played offshore for
several years and have seen it at many different casinos. I currently play at Northbet and have seen it
there.
17.
What is the highest payout
you’ve ever heard from an offshore sportsbook?
A.
I have heard of several of the
big sportsbooks paying out $100,000+ to high rollers. Some of these books
include Pinnacle, 5Dimes, Bodog, Betus, Northbet, etc.
18.
What was the worst sports bet
you’ve ever lost?
A.
My worst loss was this year’s
Belk Bowl. After that game I was sick.
Duke was getting 9 points and with the game tied 34-34 and was on
Cincinnati’s 5-yard line, ready to take the lead with less than two minutes to
go. The Blue Devils then fumbled the ball and Cincy recovered. With 44 seconds
to go, the Bearcats connected on an 83-yard TD pass to take a 41-34 lead. But
if you have Duke, you’re still covering and feel good because you get the ball
back with only seconds left. But then it happens, a Cincy pick-6 going the
other way with only 14 seconds left. 48-34! Worst loss ever. Even my account manager at Northbet felt
sorry for me.
19.
Are Nevada sportsbooks better than offshore
sportsbooks?
A.
Most people will probably tell
you they prefer Nevada sportsbooks because they are regulated and you can
collect as soon as the game is over.
However, if you don’t mind waiting a little longer, there are lots of
good offshore sportsbooks offering good signup bonuses and other promotions. Heritage, Legends, 5Dimes, and Northbet are
all solid offshore sportsbooks that are reliable.
20.
Why don’t sportsbooks offer
fantasy football?
A.
Some sportsbooks are now
offering fantasy football. I have seen
fantasy offered at William Hill and Northbet.
Northbet offers weekly fantasy contests for free to all of their
customers.
